A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Faeries, mischief, and a mystical boy converge in a modern interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, an enchanting summer adventure where love is lost, then found, and fools rehearse their wedding play, only to lose their lead actor to a magic spell. This timeless comedy is complete with juggling acts, live music, dance and Shakespeare’s language accessible to all.

Food Matters: Foodie Fridays

The future of food and farming is here! Join us for Food Matters: Foodie Fridays and learn about Maryland’s first owner-operated aquaponic farm, a new technology that allows farmers to grow fresh produce, raise fresh fish, and produce free range chicken and eggs in a controlled environment without soil or pesticides. Alexander Tobing, Adam Williamson, and Harris Tobing, co-founders of the Global Aquaponic Systems Corporation (GASCO) in Silver Spring, will highlight this technology and discuss how this innovative way of farming is changing the way we produce and consume food.

Josiah: Documentary Film Screening & Discussion

The Montgomery Parks Foundation and AFI Silver Theatre present a special screening of the documentary film “Josiah”. Through interviews with leading experts and Josiah Henson’s descendants, the film traces Henson’s harrowing journey from slavery in Maryland and Kentucky to freedom in Canada. This is an unmissable documentary that restores a hero of the abolitionist movement to his rightful place in history. Directed/Produced by Jared Brock. U.S., 2018, 40 min.
The film screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Jared Brock. Proceeds from this event will go to the Josiah Henson Park.
