Montgomery Parks and Casey Trees, Washington D.C., present the seventh annual Trees Matter Symposium. Presentations will focus on the health and welfare of trees in our increasingly developed landscapes. Trees are invaluable; they cleanse and cool our air, stabilize our soils, provide wildlife habitat and beautify our urban and suburban areas. Learn from some of the country?s leading experts about innovative efforts to plant, protect and preserve trees in urban and suburban settings.
This year's speakers include Jessica Vogt, Ph.D., Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science and Studies at DePaul University; Dan Staley, Principal at Arbor Drone, LLC; Greg Levine, Co-Executive Director & Chief Program Officer, Trees Atlanta; Sam Droege, Wildlife Biologist at the U.S. Geological Survey, Patuxent Wildlife Research Center; and Mike Galvin, Director, The Consulting Group at SavATree.
Parks Speaker Series: Jason Roberts, Building A Better Block

Montgomery Parks continues its 2018-2019 Speaker Series on November 16, 2018, with Jason Roberts, Founding Director of the Better Block. Jason Roberts, artist, civic activist, urban designer and Tedx presenter will share insights from The Better Block project. Started in 2010, when a group of community organizers gathered to revitalize a single commercial block in an underused neighborhood corridor, the project has become an opensourced international movement, empowering communities and their leaders to reshape and reactivate built environments, one block at a time.
This session has been approved for credits by the American Planning Association’s Professional Institute (2.0 CM credits). Landscape Architecture Continuing Education System (LACES) credits are pending. The presentation, follow by a question-and-answer session, is free and open to the public. Complimentary boxed lunch is provided. Must pre-register for lunch
