Montgomery Parks to Evaluate Permitting of Park Athletic Fields for Youth Sports
Published May 29 - Montgomery Parks will work with county health officials next week to review plans for reopening athletic fields for youth sports programs, as part of the County Executive’s Phase I Reopening Order. The Order reads: Any business providing skill-building drills and team-based practice in Montgomery County for individuals under the age of 18 must comply with MDH’s Interim Guidance for Limited Outdoor Youth Sports dated May 27, 2020, and any subsequent amendments thereto.
Montgomery Parks staff is reviewing related guidelines including Governor Hogan’s most recent executive order, the Maryland Department of Health’s
“Interim Guidance for Limited Outdoor Youth Sports” and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for youth sports. We will determine soon if and when to begin issuing permits for youth sports subject to local, state, and federal guidelines.
