The mission of AHFP is to preserve and interpret agricultural practices and lifestyles spanning the early 1700s through the late 1960s.

Our vision is to cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation for our diverse agricultural heritage by authentically sharing stories and illustrating how agriculture effortlessly incorporates various disciplines. Through careful preservation, we aim to accurately reflect our history, aspiring to be the foremost educational resource for learners of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs.

At the Agricultural History Farm Park, we aim to bring to life Montgomery County’s rich agricultural history and farming practices from the 18th to the 20th centuries. We provide engaging experiences for Montgomery County residents, seekers, and enthusiasts of history and science. By bridging the past and present to foster a deep connection to our agricultural heritage and the environment. This scenic 455-acre park features rolling hills, open fields, an apple orchard, and a variety of farm animals. Get a unique perspective on the county’s rich farming heritage while visiting barns, historic buildings, a modern farming activity center, and other facilities at the park. The mission of AHFP is to preserve and interpret agricultural practices and lifestyles spanning the early 1700s through the 1960s.

We currently are not offering guided group tours or field trips but we look forward to restarting them soon.

Fall Programs Available!

Break out the pumpkin spice! Our Fall programs just dropped! We’re bringing back some seasonal favorites for all ages, from our homeschool classes for kids to our Dance Nights in the Barn! And of course, our nature hikes and storytimes for our Little Farmers. Plus, we’re excited to host our first ever Ag Farm Ball – a historical costume ball that is sure to impress!

You’re Invited!

The Ag Farm Ball – September 16, 2026 – 6 to 8 pm

One night. Countless centuries. At The Ag Farm Ball, the boundaries of time disappear as emperors mingle with pirates, Victorian ladies dance beside medieval nobles, and adventurers from every age gather beneath one roof. Set within our beautifully preserved rustic historic bank barn, this enchanting evening invites guests to step into a living tapestry of history.

Don your finest historical attire and enter our historical costume contest for a chance to be crowned this year’s “Farm King or Queen,” as you step into an evening filled with music, merriment, games, dancing, and delightful refreshments.  Wander through the ages, meet fellow travelers from history, and become part of a living tapestry where every costume tells a story.

Join us for Dance Nights in the Barn!

Kick up your boots and get ready to move with Dance Nights in the Barn! Join us once a month for an upbeat, high-energy evening where dancers of all skill levels can learn classic and modern dances in a welcoming, rustic setting. Our instructor will guide you step-by-step, making it easy to jump in – whether you’re a seasoned dancer or trying it for the first time. Bring your friends, enjoy great music, and soak up the fun atmosphere as you dance the night away. No partner or experience needed—just comfortable shoes and a willingness to have a good time!

As the music plays, you’ll spin and laugh under warm lights and wooden beams in a welcoming, energetic atmosphere. Grab a partner, or meet someone new, and step into our charming rustic bank barn for some upbeat rhythms of swing music!

History-Based Programs

Enjoy playful mornings at Little Farmer Storytime, outdoor adventures with Hiking Histories and Little Farm Explorers, creative experiences in Hands-On History, and hands-on learning with Homeschool History and Junior Historians. Gather your friends and come out to our Dance Nights and our Ag Farm Ball! There’s something for every age to enjoy, all while making memories, exploring history, and celebrating community in a fun and welcoming setting. Join us for unforgettable experiences out at the Farm Park!

Volunteer

The AHFP is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with gardening, living history demonstrations, and interpretive programs. Whether you have a love for plants or a passion for history, there’s a place for you to get involved! Volunteers help create engaging, hands-on experiences that bring history and nature to life for visitors of all ages. Join the team and make a meaningful contribution to the community in a fun and welcoming environment!

Friends of the Agricultural History Farm Park

The Friends play a vital role in advancing the mission of the AHFP by supporting park staff and enhancing the park system through meaningful volunteer partnerships. In recent years, they have contributed over 88,000 hours of service annually. Montgomery Parks is incredibly grateful for this generous community support, which helps preserve and enrich the farm park for all to enjoy. The Friends also offer engaging programs and historical farm life demonstrations that highlight agriculture and local heritage.

Community Use of Park Space

The park space at the Agricultural History Farm Park is a great place for community gatherings and small group activities! In an effort to avoid interferences between these activities and those being offered by the Farm Park, a permit is required for any group of 10 or more people who wish to use the park space for a planned gathering of any kind. This permit is FREE for groups with less than 35 people.

To obtain a permit, please contact AHFPprograms@montgomeryparks.org.

Please note that permit requests must be made at least 2 weeks in advance and are considered at the discretion of the Historic Site Manager.

Photography Permits

The Agricultural History Farm Park offers a stunning backdrop for photography! A paid photo permit is required for posed photography sessions, available seven days a week from Sunrise to Sunset.
