The project entails removing and relocating the playground and installing all new equipment. Adjoining the new playground will be a new accessible patio and picnic shelter. The sidewalk to the tennis courts will be removed and repaved to meet the ADA requirements for access. Along with the repaving of the parking lot, several stormwater management and sediment control measures are being introduced to the park.
The existing playground was scheduled for renovation, but in its current location was difficult to access both for the users and the maintenance staff. In order to improve the accessibility for the play area, it was determined during the site visit that the shelter and the surrounding patio also needed better access. A new location was selected based on a large, level, open area and its proximity to the parking lot. While access issues were being examined, the walk to the tennis court and the designated parking spots in the parking lot had to be improved.
A public meeting was held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 to gather community input and ideas for the new playground. Click here to view the final playground layout.
Links to review meeting notes and presentation materials will be attached to each applicable calendar event as it is scheduled and completed.
