Waring Station Local Park

Project Description

This project renovates and replaces the existing playground in Waring Station Local Park, located at 12215 Stoney Bottom Road, Germantown, MD.

Background

The existing playground will be removed and a completely new, 4500 square foot playground will be installed in its place. Taking inspiration from the nearby Gunners Lake, this playground will consist of three pirate ships doing battle as they try to navigate through rocky “waters,” represented by several play boulders built into the play surface. The new playground will include equipment to meet the needs of children from ages 2 to 12 and will incorporate universally accessible equipment to include children of all abilities. A raingarden will also be constructed to treat runoff from the playground.

Status/Project Update

The project is in the design and permitting phase.  Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2018.
