This project will improve ADA compliance at the restroom building in the upper Shorefield Area of Wheaton Regional Park located at 2000 Shorefield Road in Wheaton. The building is located adjacent to the upper parking lot, the Adventure Playground, and the new outdoor fitness station. Interior work includes new flooring, toilet partitions, plumbing, upgrades to electrical fixtures, accessories, and paint. Exterior work includes minor changes to the walls, paint, and signage.
The Shorefield area of Wheaton Regional Park is accessible via Georgia Avenue and Shorefield Road. The park is a popular destination for people of all ages from Montgomery County and beyond. The area has year-round, dawn to dusk access to accessible parking, trails, numerous picnic shelters, the Adventure Playground, and a recently installed fitness station/exercise area.
There are other restrooms located within the park. However, not all are open year-round, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, they may be closed to the public until further notice.
The construction schedule started in Winter 2021 and was complete in April 2021.
