Family Nature Hikes
Join a Park Naturalist for a weekly hike exploring the changing of the seasons in Cabin John Regional Park. Children will also be introduced to our Nature Center’s resident animal ambassadors and engage in nature-based play and exploration. Program is intended for children 3 to 5 ½ years old and requires the accompaniment of an adult to ensure safety.

Mindfulness & Wellness
Forest bathing promotes wellness through deepening our connection to natural environments. Based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates as “taking in the atmosphere of the forest,”. This 2-hour session, led by certified forest therapy guide Adria S. Zeldin.

Migratory Bird Watch
Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day here in Cabin John Regional Park. Join us as we keep track of the different migratory birds that pass through the park this time of year.

Register for Classes & Programs
Registration is required for all program attendees who fall within the program’s age range. This includes adults. All children must be accompanied by an adult unless noted otherwise.
Cancellation Information
Locust Grove follows Montgomery County Public Schools guidance for weather-related closings. If schools are closed, nature center programs that day are canceled. If schools open late, morning programs are canceled, and afternoon programs will be held as scheduled. If schools close early, programs starting after school closing will be canceled. When in doubt, call the nature center or check our Facebook page.
How to register
Each program needs a minimum number of participants. All programs will have a 48hr registration cutoff.
