Cabin John Ice Rink Frequently Asked Questions
Cabin John Ice Rink is located at 10610 Westlake Dr. Rockville, MD. 20852, within the Cabin John Regional Park Athletic Area. The rink is accessible by car, public transportation, and ride sharing. A large wooden sign with the rink name on it can be seen at the entrance of the rink on Westlake Drive. Upon entering, the rink is the first facility on the right. A parking lot is in front of the rink for all patrons. There are also bus stops within walking distance, notably at Montgomery Mall, which is only two blocks away from the rink. For metro rail and bus schedules, please visit the following websites: WMATA and MCDOT. The following buses stop at the Westfield Montgomery Mall Transit Center: Ride On routes 6, 26, 42, 47, 96, and Metro Bus routes J2 and J3.

We recommend wearing layers of clothes no matter when you come to skate as it is cold on the ice and inside the rink! One pair of thin socks, long pants, gloves, and helmets are also strongly encouraged to wear.

For any hockey players looking to practice their skating or hockey skills, our Stick ‘n Puck sessions provide you with the ice time to do so. Our Pick-up Hockey sessions provide hockey players with the ice time to scrimmage on our NHL rink.
Get to the rink, dressed to skate (except for your skates) 10 minutes before your first class begins. Check in at the sign-in table or front desk. Proceed to the Skate Exchange to rent your skates if required (cost is covered by the class fee). When you sign in, we’ll tell you where to meet your instructor.
Beginner classes will meet off the ice and time will be taken to ensure the skates fit and are laced correctly. We recommend you arrive at the rink ready to skate 10 minutes prior to the lesson time in order to allow time to get your skates on for the lesson. Be ready to enter the ice at the start of class. Your skill level will also be assessed in the first class to be sure you are in the correct level.
Yes, there is a fee reduction program available for a selection of group lesson ice skating classes offered throughout the year and our Summer Fun Ice Skating Camp at the rink. Please read the Fee Reduction Application or visit the rink for further information.
