This project refines recommendations for the propagation and maintenance area at Brookside Gardens and develops a concept plan to facilitate construction of a new growing greenhouse within the maintenance area located at 12315 Fernmont Lane in Wheaton Regional Park. These improvements will provide improved, consolidated plant growing space for the gardens.
A Master Plan for Brookside Gardens was completed and approved by the Montgomery County Planning Board in March 2005, providing a long-term vision for renewal of the Gardens. The master plan proposed that the propagation and maintenance area be reconfigured to consolidate functions and expand the office, storage and growing space.
This project reviewed the master plan recommendations for the propagation and maintenance area and proposes to refine the master plan to better utilize existing structures that are currently in good condition and allow for improvements to be made in phases over time as funding becomes available. In addition, the project includes a concept plan for a new growing greenhouse and associated improvements, which are proposed as a first phase for the implementation of improvements to the maintenance area.
The project consultant is currently making revisions to the project schedule. Once the revisions are complete, the schedule will be posted below.
Links to review meeting notes and Planning Board memos will be attached to each applicable calendar event as it is scheduled and completed.
