Project Description

This project renovates and replaces the existing playground in Bradley Local Park, located at 8703 Hartsdale Avenue, Bethesda, MD.

Background

The existing playground will be removed and a completely new playground will be installed in its place.  Local park playgrounds are typically 3,500 to 5,000 square feet in size and include playground equipment to meet the needs of children from ages 2 to 12.  Typical types of equipment include swings, play structures, and smaller freestanding pieces of equipment such as spring rockers or spinning elements.

Status/Project Update

The existing playground is located on both the Bradley Hills Park site and the Montgomery County Public School site.  After months of discussions with the MCPS staff, it was agreed that the park’s playground would be located entirely on park property.  The school renovations include several new play areas, which can be used by the community.  In designing the park playground, equipment was selected that would give the users a different play experience than the school site.  A public meeting was held on April 7, 2011 to gather community input and ideas for the new playground. Click here to view the final playground layout and equipment.
