Cabin John Regional Park provides a 528-acre refuge in the center of one of the busiest parts of Montgomery County. The park provides a wide variety of recreational opportunities for County Residents. Some of the most popular are the ballfields, including 5 softball fields and a baseball field, which are available for use by permit only. Of course, no discussion of Cabin John's ballfields would be complete without a mention of Shirley Povich Field, home of the Bethesda Big Train, a summer baseball team made up of outstanding young college athletes playing in the Cal Ripken, Sr. Collegiate Baseball League.
