Have fun, contribute to your community and learn about nature while volunteering at Brookside Nature Center.  Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Volunteer Naturalist--Would you like to share your love of nature? Assist with or lead parts of nature programs; help with research projects, displays, and the creation of educational materials.
  • Camp Counselor--Do you like working with children? Help at our summer nature camps, held in June, July and August. Apply early!
  • Nature Center Hostess or Host--Do you enjoy working with the public? Help nature center visitors by providing basic information on our programs and trails.
  • Animal Care--Do you like working with animals? Help feed the birds and other wildlife or help care for our exhibit animals. Openings currently available for flying squirrel feeders!
  • Special Events--Would you like to volunteer occasionally? Help at events such as Harvest Festival (October), Maple Sugar Festival (February), Halloween fairy tale hikes (October), and other special programs.
  • Invasive Plant Removal--HELP! Invasive plants are taking over our parks--we need your help removing them from trails around the nature center.

Volunteers for Community Service and Eagle Scout Projects are also welcome. Let us know if you have a particular skill, but no previous experience is needed - we provide on the job training.

Volunteer training opportunities include: nature program assistance, campfire programs, seasonal nature topics, camp counselor skills, gardening and groundskeeping, and trail orientation.
