Facilities and Park Amenities

Black Hill Visitor CenterBlack Hill Visitor Center sits atop a hill overlooking Little Seneca Lake in Black Hill Regional Park. It is the facility from which the park's natural and cultural history programs are based. For many years, the Naturalist staff has been exploring the area to seek out and discover the best that man and nature have to offer. Join us to share in discoveries that range from scenic vistas, to our beautiful lake and it's wildlife, to geologic formations, and to man's historic and prehistoric past. Public viewing scopes have been installed, one on the back deck of the visitor's center and two lakeside near the fishing pier, one of which is handicap accessible.

Interpretive programs are offered year-round for families and individuals of all ages, from preschoolers to seniors. During the school year, educational programs are offered to schools, scouts, and other organized groups. Call 301-528-4393 for more information.

The naturalist staff offices are located in the Visitor Center. Restrooms, a water fountain, informational bulletin boards, displays, wildlife checklists, and trail maps are also included. In the lobby, you'll find the "Claudia Wilds Library", an extensive collection of bird and natural history books. If the center is closed, trail guides, checklists, and program guides are available in a literature rack located on the wall to the right of the front door.
