New Hours

Due to fiscal constraints, Black Hill Visitor Center must reduce operational hours, effective July 1st.  Our new hours are:

 Open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from Noon -- 5:00 PM

These hours will be in effect July 1, 2010 through Monday, September 6, 2010 (Labor Day). Fall 2010 hours will be determined in late August.

Interpretive programs are offered year-round for families and individuals of all ages,
from preschoolers to seniors. In addition, during the school year,
educational programs are offered to schools, home-schoolers, scouts, and other organized groups.
To reach the Naturalist Staff concerning group programs, please call 301-528-3491.

Notes

  • Public Pontoon Boat Cruises of Little Seneca Lake are available on weekends (Saturday & Sunday) on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Boat Rental area. The times are 12:30, 2:00 & 3:30 pm. The charge is $4 per person. Rides maybe cancelled due to high winds or other inclement weather.

Weather-Related Cancellations 

open umbrella in the rainDuring inclement weather, Nature Facilities follow Montgomery County Public School closures, delayed openings and early releases. If school is closed due to inclement weather, all children's programs are cancelled. Cancellation of adult programs is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you are registered for a program cancelled by the Naturalist Staff, your fee will automatically be credited to your ParkPASS account. If you are not first contacted by us, please call to check on adult program status at 301-528-3492.

Program Registration Made Simple

The Summer 2010 Guide is available at Montgomery County libraries, Recreation centers and Park facilities. Please call 301-495-2525 if you'd like a paper copy. Or better yet, save a tree and check out the all-new and improved eGuide here. Registration began May 15, 2010. The easiest way to register for a class or program at Black Hill Visitor Center is to make a note of the ParkPASS course number, and register at ParkPASS.org.
