In the 1960s, M-NCPPC/Montgomery Parks began acquiring the land that is now South Germantown Recreational Park in order to preserve open space and provide parkland for residents in northern Montgomery County. Most of the park’s 695 acres of rolling hills were once the James and Macie King Farm, a working dairy farm since the mid-1800s. The park’s state-of-the-art facilities offer visitors a variety of leisure activities from which to choose, including hiking, biking, archery, miniature golf, swimming, soccer, picnicking, and adventure play, to name just a few. Facilities are still being added to accommodate residents’ diverse interests.
