How the lottery (2011/12 lottery now complete...next one will be April 2, 2012)works in five easy steps:
- Read all the information about the lottery process, how it works, and how to fill out the application.
Wheaton Tennis 2011 - 2012 Lottery LETTER (pdf, 123KB)
Wheaton Tennis 2011 - 2012 Lottery Application INSTRUCTIONS (pdf, 189KB)
Wheaton Tennis 2011-2012 Lottery INFORMATION (pdf, 229KB) - Fill out your application with your top three choices of days of the week, time of day, and court number. Be sure to fill it out completely and legibly. If we can't read it, we won't be able to include your application in the lottery.
Wheaton Tennis 2011-2012 Lottery APPLICATION (pdf, 134KB)
To help you in your selection, here's a chart showing how many courts are available by day and by hour: Wheaton Tennis Court Availability 2011-2012 (pdf, 334KB) - Submit your completed lottery application and $150.00 non-refundable* deposit check by 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 18 to Wheaton Indoor Tennis, 11715 Orebaugh Ave, Wheaton, MD 20902. You may mail your application
or drop it off in person. We cannot be responsible for late arrivals of mailed applications, so please mail it early, or drop it off in person to be sure. Please be sure to read all the instructions carefully--there's very specific information in these documents about what to do if your group wants two hours of consecutive court time (because each individual can only apply for one hour of court time), how to address your envelope if you mail your application, etc.
(*The $150.00 deposit can be refunded to you if you do not receive any one of your three choices for a court time/day. It will not be refunded if you are awarded one of your three court time/day choices but choose not to accept it.) - The lottery process will begin Monday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. We'll allocate all the available court time, and do our very best to give everyone one of their three choices of times/days/courts. If you and/or your group does receive seasonal court time, look for written notification from us via mail, on or around June 6, 2011. If you did not receive a court time in the lottery, your deposit check will be returned to you.
- After all the available court time has been allocated for the 32-week 2011-2012 season, we'll send you a bill for the balance of your account (less the $150.00 deposit check). The balance must be paid by August 1, 2011, or your court time will be reassigned. You can pay the balance online at ParkPASS.org with a Visa or MasterCard, or in person at Wheaton Indoor Tennis with a Visa or MasterCard, personal check (pre-printed with the court holder's name), or cash.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call us at Wheaton Indoor Tennis (301-905-3030), or the Pauline Betz Addie Tennis Center at Cabin John Regional Park (301-765-8650).

USTA 10 and UNDER Tennis
This ground-breaking new program from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) gives kids age 10 and under the opportunity to learn real tennis... and have real fun doing it! Using the QuickStart Tennis play format, the classes use racquets, balls and courts that are sized right for kids so that they learn, rally, play, compete and enjoy the game right from the start. The courts are smaller (but still to scale); the balls are lighter, slower-moving and easier to hit; and racquets are smaller and lighter. It's not remedial and not just for beginners--it's real tennis, tailored to a child's size (just like other youth sports like soccer, basketball and baseball have done for years). All classes include warm-up and cool-down activities, skill review and practice, and team games that reinforce tennis skills and tactics. For more information, visit www.10andUnderTennis.com. Visit www.ParkPASS.org and sign up for a class today.
Tennis classes and special programs are available throughout the year for all skill levels and ages, and are taught by accredited USPTA and USPTR instructors. To view seasonal listings of group tennis lessons and sessions, and to register online, visit www.ParkPASS.org, or contact us directly.
Private lessons with accredited instructors are also available. Please call us at 301-905-3030 for more information.
Tennis Instructors list (pdf, 248KB)
Please note: Only contracted Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) instructors may teach private and/or group lessons and charge a fee on Montgomery Parks tennis courts. Any member of the public is welcome to work with other direct family members on Montgomery Parks tennis courts.
