Family Activities
The Montgomery County Department of Parks and Planning Department host a number of activities for kids and kids at heart.
Miniature Trains
Take a ride through the beautiful woods of Cabin John Regional Park or Wheaton Regional Park on Cabin John Miniature Train in Rockville and Wheaton Miniature Train in Wheaton. Rides are $1.75 per person, and children under age 2 ride free with a paying adult. Discount ticket books of 10 tickets for $15.75 are also available. Carousel
Wheaton Regional Park is also home to the lovely and historic Ovid Hazen Wells Carousel. Rides are $1.75 per person, and children under age 2 ride free with a paying adult. Boating & Fishing
Rent a boat, canoe, single or double kayak, or pedal boat (Lake Needwood only) by hour or day at one of our two beautiful lakes. Pontoon boat rides are also available in season at both lakes. Lake Needwood and Little Seneca lake are stocked with fish, including largemouth bass, catfish, bluegill, crappie, and tiger muskie. Fish from our rental boats or your private boat during the season, and from private boats during the private boat permit season. Year-round fishing is permitted from the shoreline. People ages 16 and older must have a Maryland Fishing License.

Ice Skating
Bring the family and friends and come ice skating any time of year at Wheaton Ice Arena in Wheaton, or Cabin John Ice Rink in Rockville. Public skating sessions are held at both rinks throughout the rink, as well as special "Cheapskates" (one low fee for both admission and rental skates!), Family Skates, Adult Skates and special event and holiday skating sessions.
