South Germantown Recreation Park hosts some or our most popular facilities in the Upcounty area. Besides trails, the many facilities offered by this Park include; playground equipment, ball fields, picnic shelters, miniature golf, splash & adventure playgrounds, King Farm Dairy Mooseum and tot lot, Soccerplex and the Germantown Golf Park Driving Range.

Follow a hard surface, level path around the park. Bronze medallions are embedded in the path every 1/10 of a mile so walkers track the distance they travel. The trail begins at the kiosk by the Mooseum - HeartSmart Trails information and maps.

Unless noted otherwise on the map, trails marked “Natural Surface” and “Hard Surface” are "Shared by All" trails which includes hikers, bikers and equestrians. Additional information about permitted uses of Park trails is available on our Trail User Information page.

Location

17920 Germantown Park Drive, Germantown, MD. From I-270, take 15B onto Route 118 South. Go approximately 3.5 miles and turn right on to Germantown Park Drive.

Trail length/surface

6+ miles of paved trails.

Trail characteristics

The hard surface trails wind in and around the whole park and its sport facilities.

At the western side of the park near the driving range, the Hoyles Mill Trail was recently completed. This natural surface trail connects the South Germantown Rec. Park to Hoyles Mill Conservation and Black Hill Recreation Parks to the north as well as Seneca State Park to the south.
