The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission and the Montgomery County Recreation Advisory Board
Thursday, April 2, 2009 -
7:00 p.m.
M-NCPPC’s Montgomery Regional Office Auditorium,
8787 Georgia Avenue,
Silver Spring, Maryland 20910
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission’s Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Recreation Advisory Boards invite testimony at a joint public forum on park and recreation projects to be included in the FY 11-16 CIP.
This forum provides the public an opportunity to comment before the Department of Parks and the Department of Recreation begin preparing their Capital Improvements Programs (CIPs). These two programs are managed by different agencies, but they are of concern to similar interest groups since many recreation activities occur on park property.
The CIP for the Department of Parks includes proposals for parkland acquisition, renovation of older park facilities, and new park development. New proposals will be added primarily in the later years of the program. The Recreation Department CIP will include proposals for construction and renovation of community/recreation centers and aquatic facilities. The proposed CIP Budgets are forwarded to the County Executive in the Fall 2009. The County Executive’s recommended CIP is forwarded to the County Council in January 2010.
The Montgomery County Council will hold a public hearing in February 2010 and review and approve the FY 11-16 CIP in Spring 2010. The FY 11-16 CIP becomes effective on July 1, 2010. The next year, the Council will make only limited amendments to the FY 11-16 CIP for FY 2012, the second year of the biennial cycle.
