About the Challenge
The Garlic Mustard Challenge is a county-wide competition sponsored by the Montgomery County Department of Parks to help save the forest and weed out garlic mustard—one of the aliens invading your parks.
Garlic mustard is a non-native invasive (NNI) plant that is out-competing native plants and trees in parks. This weed, is easy to identify and easy to pull. We’ll teach you how. Gather up your family, friends, club members and neighbors.
We provide the bags, volunteers fill them with garlic mustard and turn them back in to one of our weigh stations on the Challenge Days. This year we pulled over 10,000 pounds of the stuff!
Thanks to our Sponsors!
Thanks to our sponsors, REI and the Washington Freedom Soccer Club - And just for helping us clear this invasive weed from our parks, all participants receive a free “Play in the Parks” card good for free and/or discounted Montgomery Park’s activities.
