Step back in time and become an Underground Railroad conductor! Lead tours along this historic 2 mile natural surface trail, which commemorates the Montgomery County the involvement of Montgomery County residents in the Underground Railroad and celebrates the Quaker heritage and traditions of Sandy Spring. Become a part of history! Come and join a terrific group of history lovers and become an Oakley Cabin volunteer tour guide (or docent). Learn more about local African American history. Lead tours through this historic house museum and former slave cabin, circa 1820 and, learn how to “make history come alive” through hands-on living history experiences. Hyattstown Mill

The mill is operated by the Hyattstown Mill Arts Project (HMAP), which hosts rotating exhibits and live music performances in the Mill Gallery from April through October. The gallery is open weekends, holidays and for special events. Call 301-874-2452 for more information.

Oakley Cabin Tours

Oakley Cabin African American Museum & Park will reopen for the 2010 season on Saturday, April 10. Free tours are given by the trained docents of Oakley Cabin from Noon to 4pm on each second and fourth Saturday, Apri - November 2010.
